This is one of my first scene's in 3ds max. Its made with the default installed maps and is just a basic layout.
It illustrates a Chinese styled dinner area.
The scene itself is very simple as you can see in the wire (which might look detailed but its actually about half the polygons since I used a lot of mesh smooth). The pillows are just a smoothed box with four vertexes pulled inwards. The table plane are four boxes with a bit of noise so they ain't a plain table top.

Then I applied the textures, these maps are just from the default library with slight modifications. Here are the swatches.
In top/bottom left/right order the Pillow, Ground, Table Standards, Table Blade, Garbage Bin, Bowls, Vase, Dirt and the wire frame material.

Then all combined with 3 lights (a white skylight, 1 green omni and one blue omni) the complete seen looks like this
